Biennium Goals
"Altrusa: A Great Investment" To Building A Strong Future Through Membership

Membership is the first issue addressed in our Long Range/Strategic Plan. The goals are clearly set forth and now it is up to each of us and to each local club to accept the challenge and achieve those goals. Read and review these goals, then set your sights. Let's do what we can for who we can and where we can as Leaders in Service.


Goals, Incentives & Rewards for 2009-2011

“New Member Sponsors"
  • Each Altrusan who sponsors one new member during the 2009-2011 Biennium will receive an exclusively designed handwritten note from International President Donna C. Johnson.
“New Club Building Recognition"
  • All Districts are encouraged to add at least two new Clubs this Biennium.
  • Sponsoring Clubs will receive a “Blue Ribbon" Award for display on Club Banners.
  • Sponsoring Clubs will receive a specific monetary award as approved by the International Board of Directors
  • New Clubs will receive two road signs for their town.

International SERVICE Program Development Committee Goals

Service "A Great Investment" by sharing your successes via e-mail and your newsletters.
  • Develop new materials on Altrusa service projects and fundraising strategies.
  • Establish a working relationship between the International Service Committee and the International Foundation that could be replicated at the District Level (where appropriate) and the local Club level.
  • Invite District Service Chairs to become members of International Service Program Committee.

International LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING Committee Goals

We hope you have discovered the leader within you.
  • Update/rewrite Governor-Elect Training Manual. 
  • Develop leadership materials targeted for club revitalization.
  • Provide leadership opportunities and experiences for all members. 

International MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Committee Goals

Enhance our image and increase visibility by:
  • All Club participation in "Add An Altrusan Day" activities and events.
Recruit and retain members by:
  • Developing ONE Club in each District.
  • Developing communication pieces (tools) to be used by each Club and District.

International COMMUNICATIONS Committee Goals

Communications is Everyone's Job.
  • Define the Altrusa image.
  • Develop useable promotional materials with consistent message.  For example, elevator speech, website, magazines/brochures, press releases, articles and advertisements. 
  • Provide training and/or best practices to optimize use of new promotional materials; kickoff at International Convention.
  • Provide leadership role in development and implementation of future International communications.

ASTRA Committee Goals

If everyone lends a helping hand, our young people will have an opportunity to invest in Altrusa through service.
  • Re-write ASTRA manual to include current information and information for ASTRA at the University level.
  • Encourage Clubs to start an ASTRA Club in their community, at least one new Club per District.
  • Maintain an international registry of ASTRA Clubs with email contact information on members in University sponsored Clubs.

CLUBS-AT-LARGE Committee Goals

It is a Small World After All.
  • Publish service and membership news of Clubs-At-Large.
  • Establish regular contact with all Clubs-At-Large.
  • Find ways to include Clubs-At-Large in the International Convention.
