It's Time To "Embrace The World" Though Membership

Membership is the first issue addressed in our Long Range/Strategic Plan. The goals are clearly set forth and now it is up to each of us and to each local club to accept the challenge and achieve those goals. Read and review these goals, then set your sights.  Let's do what we can for who we can and where we can by “Embracing the World" as Leaders in Service.

Goals, Incentives & Rewards for 2007-2009

“New Member Sponsors"

  • Each Altrusan who sponsors one new member during the 2007-2009 Biennium will receive an exclusively designed "Embracing The World" Pin with a message from the International President Zaida Perez-Mendez.


“New Club Building” Recognition

  • All districts are encouraged to add at least two new clubs this Biennium.
  • Sponsoring Club will receive a “Blue Ribbon”.
  • This ribbon will also be for display on club banners.
  • New clubs will receive two road signs for their town.
     

International SERVICE Program Development Committee Goals:

Help "Embrace the World" with Service by sharing your success via e-mail and your newsletters. 

  • Provide clubs with written and electronic information to achieve successful service projects via the Website, newsletters and  CDs.
  • Keep Districts informed as to Club Service Projects (including International) (sharing of ideas) and have CDs available upon request.
  • Continue the electronic quarterly newsletter to all Districts and Clubs-At-Large.

  • Maintain the service database for Altrusa International, Inc.
  • Encourage, celebrate and award clubs that participate in "Make A Difference Day."
  • Maximize service to members, communities and globally for Literacy Day.
  • Encourage, all clubs to participate in the Awards programs (Bass, Brown, Calhoun, Roosevelt and the Foundation Grants)


International LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT & TRAINING Committee Goals:

We hope you have discovered the leader within you.

  • Conduct Governors-Elect training workshop in 2008.
  • Communicate electronically each month to the Governors, Governors-Elect and District Leadership Chairs.
  • Develop initial training modules.
  • Compile a Leadership Manual
  • Update the President's and Governor's Manual.
  • Publish leadership articles in each Club President's mailing and the International Altrusan.


International MEMBERSHIP DEVELOPMENT Committee Goals:

Embracing Membership to 15,000 for the 2007-2009 Biennium.

  • Encourage each member sponsor one new member.
  • Encourage male membership.
  • Increase total clubs to 500 by 2009.
  • Decrease the number of under charter strength clubs to 100.
  • Encourage all members to be active in their club.


International COMMUNICATIONS Committee Goals:

Communications is Everyone's Job.

  • Enable Altrusa, at all levels to maximize new technologies for communication.
  • Create templates for workshops to be delivered at District and Club events.
  • Enable Altrusans to adopt the "Communication's Lifestyle."
  • Develop a Communications tool kit with templates for Press Releases, Public Service Announcements, Newsletters, Websites and Press Kits.
  • Update Media Guide
  • Update Marketing materials


ASTRA Committee Goals:

If everyone lends a helping hand, our young people will have a chance to embrace the world through service.

  • Develop a program for the International ASTRA Committee to bring information to the community level.
  • Create cooperative opportunities for ASTRA.
  • Encourage all ASTRA Clubs to participate in "Make A Difference Day."
  • Make opportunities available for ASTRA Clubs to apply for International Foundation Grants.
  • Develop a structure for ASTRA Clubs.
  • Develop an ASTRA program for District Conference such as a day for ASTRA
  • Develop ASTRA Club Service Award judged at District and International level
  • Position ASTRA as a Service Project of each Club..

CLUBS-AT-LARGE Committee Goals:

It is a Small World After All.

  • Increase the number of Clubs-At-Large to 15.
  • Encourage the reestablishment of District Thirteen
  • Encourage the reestablishment of clubs in Mexico, Ecuador, Costa Rico and the expansion of clubs in India.
  • Encourage more clubs and Districts in the United States to establish Sister Clubs in other countries.
  • Develop a marketing campaign for existing Clubs-At-Large countries in their language.
  • Encourage Clubs-At-Large to submit award applications.
