1/14/2008 - Altrusa International of Yaquina Bay is working to improve dental health in Lincoln County through a project called, "Something to Smile About". With a vision of providing access to dental services for children living in poverty and educating children about proper dental care, Altrusa is distributing dental kits to every student in the Lincoln County School District.

11/27/2007 - Six Hot Springs Village, Arkansas Altrusans and two spouses went to Ferncliff Camp and Conference Center in Little Rock to assemble Disaster Kits. Ferncliff is one of the fastest growing Presbyterian camps and retreat facilities in the country.

11/27/2007 - Montrose, Colorado Altrusans provided 25 buddy bags, 30 children’s books, 8 adult easy readers and 3 children’s notebooks to the adult education center that serves Montrose and Olathe. In addition to, Altrusa’s signature Buddy Bags, dictionaries, books and supplies were gathered and delivered to the Adult Basic Education Program. The project goal was to enhance the program's children's room and to give the teachers something else to read in class as a group.

10/29/2007 - Altrusa Interntional, Inc. of Nanaimo, Canada presented a local elementary school with 47 dozen home baked muffins for the children as part of their 'Feed A Reader' project for Make A Difference Day.

At
the July 2001, International Board of Directors meeting, Literacy was
adopted as the charitable focus of Altrusa International. If your club
is already doing a literacy project send an e-mail to literacy@altrusa.com
and tell us about your project. We will post a summary of your
project (send pictures please!) in our new Literacy sections, which
will be open shortly.

Welcome to the the 2007-2009 Biennium. Thank you for your active
participation. Our 50th International Convention in Orlando, Florida was a
success. Our Past Immediate President, Linda J. Nichols set the pace of
our future by saying "Let's Get On Board." Now with great passion and
commitment we will be "Embracing The World" as Leaders in Service.
